Geographic Information Systems Program DescriptionThe Graphic Information Systems Program integrates computerized geographic information, satellite images, digital maps, and global positioning systems (GPS) in decision support systems. Spatial issues are analyzed to make decisions such as risk assessment for homeland security, and planning for emergency evacuation, health and human services, site selection, marketing, population, political civic engagement campaigns, endangered species, nature hazards, cultural preservation, and wildlife management.
