Hungry students crowd the first floor hallway waiting to order their lunch from a makeshift cart. Food is hardly the word to describe these affordable and delicious products that Emily Griffith Culinary Arts student's bake, fry, slice, dice, candy, and grill (left: Emily's award winning cinnamon rolls)
Peeking inside the Deli windows it's clear by the sawdust and lack of students that Emily Griffith Opportunity School's 12th Street Deli is currently in the process of a face lift. The Deli and seating area is being completely remodeled and rearranged to better serve our recently booming student population.
Due to the downturn in the economy student enrollment has increased substantially. "And that means that we have to be more efficient and productive in serving our students."
All of our Culinary Arts and Restaurant, Commercial Baking and Food Production Program students benefit when the new Deli facility draws more clients. More clients equates to more experience. Emily Griffith's focus on hands on experience garners the 100% job placement rate of our students.
Not only will the new layout of the Deli be easy to navigate but will include new amenities like an omelet bar, pasta bar, burrito bar, and larger salad bar.
The 12th Street Deli will open after remodel on Wednesday, May 13th. Please stay tuned for the grand opening.
