GED Adult Testing and Preparation

GED Orientation

Orientation is required prior to taking the GED Test, and is held five times a week:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 a.m. in Room 201

  • Monday and Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Room 201

Bring a valid, government issued photo ID with you.

The free orientation lasts one hour. Please attend no more than 4 weeks prior to starting the test.

ID Requirements

A valid government issued photo ID is necessary for GED Testing.

This may include the following:

  • Colorado Driver's License

  • Colorado Photo ID

  • Passport

  • Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

  • Mexican Consulate ID

  • Military ID

The ID you present has to be current, not expired.

If your driver's license or ID is from another state, or if you use a passport, military ID, or a green card, you will need to provide proof of your Colorado residence. A bill, paycheck stub, insurance card, auto registration or bank statement will do as long as it shows your name and your current Colorado address.

Once you have attended the orientation, you may come in to test during the following arrival times in Room 201:

Tuesday

8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday

9:30 a.m.

1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

5:30 p.m.

Thursday

8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Friday

9:30a.m.

No Saturday Testing

The GED Testing fees are due when you begin testing. Payment can be made in cash, VISA or Master Card. You may pay for the full battery at once if you wish, or you may pay for each subtest as you take it.

Your payment is good for one full calendar year. If you pay for the whole test on March 31, 2009, then come back to finish it on April 1, 2010, you must repay for the parts of the test you have not already completed.

GED Practice Tests

Emily Griffith Opportunity School offers the Official GED Practice Test for individuals who are not sure if they are ready to take the actual GED Test. It is half as long as the GED Test, and will give you a good idea of how you would do if you were to take the GED test right now.

It is available on the following days and times in Room 205:

Monday

8:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday

8:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday

8:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m.

Thursday

8:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m.

Friday

8:00 a.m - 12:00 Noon

No Saturday Testing

Cost:

$10.00 if you take it at the school.

$20.00 if you buy it and take it home.

The Practice Test takes 3 - 4 hours to complete. When you are finished we will score your test and tell you what the score means.

GED Preparation Class

The GED/Adult Basic Education Class offers coursework in reading, math, and language to prepare students to pass the GED (General Educational Development) Test or to improve skills. This class is recommended for candidates preparing for a career as a Denver Firefighter, Police Officer or Sheriff's Deputy. The class is self-paced and open-entry with options for computerized or textbook-based classwork. A reading and math placement test is required prior to enrollment.
