GED Adult Testing and Preparation

GED Orientation

Orientation is required prior to taking the GED Test, and is held five times a week:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 a.m. in Room 201

  • Tuesday and Thursday at 4 p.m. in Room 201

Bring a valid, government issued photo ID with you.

The free orientation lasts one hour. Please attend no more than 4 weeks prior to starting the test.

ID Requirements

A valid government issued photo ID is necessary for GED Testing.

This may include the following:

  • Colorado Driver's License

  • Colorado Photo ID

  • Passport

  • Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

  • Mexican Consulate ID

  • Military ID

The ID you present has to be current, not expired.

If your driver's license or ID is from another state, or if you use a passport, military ID, or a green card, you will need to provide proof of your Colorado residence. A bill, paycheck stub, insurance card, auto registration or bank statement will do as long as it shows your name and your current Colorado address.

GED Test Costs

IMPORTANT: The Colorado Department of Education has mandated that every GED Testing site in the state of Colorado raise their fees effective July 1, 2011. Below will be the new prices:

Full Battery (Full Test)

$150.00

Individual Subtests (English and Spanish)

$30.00

GED En Espanol ESL Test

$30.00

Retests (English and Spanish)

$30.00

Your test fees are good for one year. For example, if you pay for the entire test on December 31, 2011, but do not finish taking the test until December 31, 2012, you may finish the test without paying again.

If you pay for the entire test on December 31, 2011, and complete four of the five subjects by December 31, 2012, but have not completed the fifth subject, you will have to pay again to take that fifth test.

Fees are due and payable at the time of testing. We accept Visa, MasterCard, cash, and third party checks and vouchers (schools, community based organizations or social service agencies). Your payment will be valid for one year, or until the test itself is changed.

GED Practice Tests

Emily Griffith Technical College offers the Official GED Practice Test for individuals who are not sure if they are ready to take the actual GED Test. It is half as long as the GED Test, and will give you a good idea of how you would do if you were to take the GED test right now.

Tuesday

8:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m.
