GED Classes

GED Test Close OutThank you for inquiring about the Emily Griffith Technical College GED preparation and Adult Basic Education classes. These classes are appropriate for individuals who are preparing for the GED test or who need to enhance their reading, math and writing skills. This class is also appropriate for Colorado Firefighter, Police Officer, and Deputy Sheriff job applicants to brush-up on academic skills.

Classes are:

  • self-paced
  • offered continuously throughout the year (except August)
  • instructor supported
  • offered with a variety of instructional methods including: computer-based, textbook-based, or on-line
  • offered at five locations
  • $60 for 90 class-hour increments (45 class-hours for Saturdays)

GED/Adult Basic Skills Preparation Attendance Policy

Students registered in GED/Adult Basic Skills Preparation are held to a three absence maximum attendance policy per 90 hour block of instruction. Any student who misses the equivalent of three class sessions within a 90 hour block of instruction will be dropped from the course for non-participation without refund. Partial and full absences will be used to calculate the equivalent of three class sessions.

  3. Take a reading and math pre-test:
    • at the Testing Center at Emily Griffith Technical College

    • a valid government-issued picture ID is required
    • testing will take approximately 2 1/2 hours
  4. Register for the classes:
    • in the Registration Center at Emily Griffith Technical College
    • at off-site classes during class times
  5. Pay for classes:
    • in the Treasurer's Office at Emily Griffith Technical College
    • at off-site locations during the class times
