GED Testing

GED Close-outThe Testing Center at Emily Griffith Technical College is an official General Educational Development, (GED) testing center. There are five areas of the GED test: Language Arts: Writing, Language Arts: Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. Many employers require a General Education Diploma or High School Diploma for employment in their company or organization.  GED preparation and adult education classes are also available at Emily Griffith Technical College. 

GED Orientation

Orientation is required prior to taking the GED. Please log into www.ged123.org to register for the GED Test. Print your proof of GED Registration, sign it, and bring it with you to orientation at one of the following times:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 a.m. in Room 201
  • Tuesday and Thursday at 4 p.m. in Room 201

Bring a valid, government issued photo ID with you.

The free orientation lasts one hour. Please attend no more than 4 weeks prior to starting the test.

ID Requirements

A valid government issued photo ID is necessary for GED Testing.

This may include the following:

  • Colorado Driver's License
  • Colorado Photo ID
  • Passport
  • Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
  • Mexican Consulate ID
  • Military ID

The ID you present has to be current, not expired.

If your driver's license or ID is from another state, or if you use a passport, military ID, or a green card, you will need to provide proof of your Colorado residence. A bill, paycheck stub, insurance card, auto registration or bank statement will do as long as it shows your name and your current Colorado address.

Testing is first come, first serve and up to 19 examinees only. Testing schedule subject to change. Saturday testing is on 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. Once you have attended the orientation, you may arrive to test during the following times:

Your test fees are good for one year. For example, if you paid for the entire test on December 31, 2011, but do not finish taking the test until December 31, 2012, you may finish the test without paying again. 

If you paid for the entire test on December 31, 2011, and complete four of the five subjects by December 31, 2012, but have not completed the fifth subject, you will have to pay again to take the fifth test. 

Fees are due and payable at the time of testing. We accept Visa, MasterCard, cash, and third party checks and vouchers (schools, community based organizations or social service agencies). Your payment will be valid for one year, or until the test itself is changed.

GED Practice Tests

Emily Griffith Technical College offers the Official GED Practice Test for individuals who are not sure if they are ready to take the actual GED Test. It is half as long as the GED Test, and will give you a good idea of how you would do if you were to take the GED test right now.

It is available on the following days and times in Room 205:

No GED Practice Testing on Saturday

GED Practice Test Costs:

  • $10.00 if you take the test at the school.
  • $20.00 if you take the test home.

The Practice Test takes 3 - 4 hours to complete. When you are finished we will score your test and tell you what your scores means.

GED Diploma and Transcripts

In order to get your diploma once you have finished and passed all of the GED Tests, you must log into www.diplomasender.com and register. You will not get your diploma until you do this.
