Medical Coding Professional Certification Program Description

The Medical Coding Professional Certification is recommended for those who have worked in the healthcare industry, with a strong background in medical records, coding, billing, or related areas. This is an 18-week online program which focuses on providing students with a solid foundation in ICD-9-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding and also prepares participants to take the National Coding Certification Examination. Students are required to demonstrate a working knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology. Current versions of books are required. They are as follows: CD-9-CM Expert (Volumes I, II, III), CPT Professional Edition, and HCPCS Level II Expert.
