Pathways to Employment

Pathways to Employment is a four-week, intensive employment readiness program for newly-arrived refugees and immigrants.

Job Training

Pathways to Employment training is for seven hours a day. Potential students must be able to speak at an intermediate to high level of English (i.e. SPL 5-10 on BESTPlus).
Subjects include:

  • American Business Culture

  • Customer Service

  • Getting the Job

  • Computer Skills

  • Business Writing

  • Working in the Community

The program incorporates hands-on training in the classroom, in the computer lab, at job shadow sites and in Emily Griffith's very own coffee shop, Emily's Coffee.

Job Shadow Opportunities

During their final week, students job shadow one of our many community partners. Students are temporarily placed at local businesses allowing them to gain experience in fast-paced, customer service jobs like coffee shops and convenience stores. Job shadows prove invaluable opportunities for students to gain first-hand experience of day-to-day operations in a real-time work setting. If your company is interested in becoming a community partner click here for more information.
