Slavica Park
Dean of Instruction
Slavica_Park@dpsk12.org
Other Languages: Bosnian and German
Slavica
(pr. Slah-vit-sa) arrived in Denver in 1997 as a refugee after fleeing war-torn Bosnia. Like most refugees, she found her way to Emily Griffith Opportunity School to study English, however, she never left. Slavica was offered a job in the Language Learning Center and five years later became the Dean. I am one of the luckiest people in the world; I wake up in the morning knowing that I get paid to do something I absolutely love. It is a real pleasure to work with a dedicated, compassionate and well educated team. Even more so it is a great inspiration to watch our students go through so many obstacles and challenges but never give up and succeed in the end.

Scott has been teaching at Opportunity School for 14 years. In addition to teaching, Scott also enjoys leading the daily conversation groups for high level English students. The best thing about teaching ESL is to see adults from around the world interacting with each other to achieve a common goal. Seeing the harmony, compassion, and friendship that develop among the students in a multi-cultural classroom leads me to believe that if this can happen here then maybe theres hope for the world at large.
