General Information

Book and Tool Information

Many courses, have additional costs for textbooks. Students are responsible for providing their own books. Call 720-423-4712 for more information. College of Health Science books can be purchased from University of Colorado Health Sciences Book Store (303-724-2665). Books for all other programs and courses are purchased from Specialty Books online (1-800-466-1365) or Big Dog Textbooks (303-893-2443), 1331 15th Street Denver, CO 80202.

Tools: Many career/technical courses require students to provide their own tools. The school specifies the tools students must purchase for their training. Tools are available from a number of local sources. Approximate costs for books and tools may be found at the registration counter or by calling 720-423-4712.

Class Cancellations

Classes are subject to cancellation due to low enrollment or for any other reason determined by the administration. In the event of inclement weather, classes will be held as scheduled unless Opportunity School administration cancels classes. Such notice will be communicated by radio and/or television.

Graduation Requirements

Students must pass program required course work with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better and complete all required courses that make up a program of study in the career area of choice. Students may also be required to pass industry, state, or federal assessments that provide licensure to those who pass. This licensure allows the student to gain employment in those respective fields.

Student Identification Cards

Student identification cards are available from instructors or in the Directors’ Office, room 216. Student photo identification cards are available at the Student Success Center. The first ID is free, replacements cost $5. Photo identification is required in the following situations:

  • Financial Aid application and payment procedures

  • Treasurer's office cash disbursements or Initiation of payment plan

  • Assessment tests including GED and vocational testing

  • Student Records: No photo ID required, but must sign a release
