Denver's West High School Aircraft Maintenance Program

See West High School's Aircraft Maintenance Website

Emily Griffith Technical College, in collaboration with Denver's West High School, hosts an Aircraft Maintenance Program located on the Denver's West High School campus. This high school aviation mechanics program, one of only three such programs in the country, promotes aviation maintenance technology to young and energetic students with interest in a career in aviation technology. Other students may simply be curious about how mathematics and physics are applied in air travel.

Students are introduced to hands-on technical training while increasing their awareness of careers in airframe and powerplant maintenance. High School students can start as early as their junior year and by graduation will complete 26 college credit hours and 450 hours of aviation maintenance training. It also establishes a valuable pathway for high achieving students to begin their aviation studies while in high school and simultaneously begin their college education at Emily Griffith Technical College where they can complete the remaining airframe and powerplant training at the Aircraft Maintenance Training Center located at Front Range Airport. After completion of the program students can transfer 25 credit hours to Metropolitan State College or up to 42 hours to any Colorado Community College. The Federal Aviation Administration certifies the Emily Griffith Technical College aviation program.

For interested juniors and seniors from Denver Public Schools, this program is tuition free, as part of Denver's concurrent enrollment initiative. This is the most affordable Aviation Maintenance Training program in the region.
